Hammerhead and Staghorn in the BMW World

As part of the International Ocean Film Tour Oris invited to the Dine & Movie VIP Event at BMW Welt. The occasion was the two new partnerships between the watch brand and two non-profit organizations for the protection of the oceans. With the two limited editions Oris Aquis Hammerhead and Oris Aquis Staghorn Restoration, Oris is strongly committed to the preservation of our blue planet. This is implemented with the support of the environmental organisations Pelagios Kakunjá and the Coral Restoration Foundation. We are especially pleased that by participating in this event we were able to contribute to these two partnerships. The participation costs of 50€ p.p. will be donated to the two organizations for the protection of the oceans. In the following we would like to give you some impressions of the event and present the two watch models which contribute to the support of the partnerships.

Culinary dining room with cinema evening

After a short stroll through the futuristic BMW Welt with its many different horsepower-strong vehicle models, we took the elevator to the EssZimmer of star chef Bobby Bräuer. The beautifully decorated Star Restaurant with a view of the BMW World was the setting for Oris’ watch and project presentation and at the same time the culinary stage for the Flying Star menu. After a short aperitif, the guests were greeted and warmly welcomed by Mr Steiner, Head of Germany at Oris. Mr. Steiner presented the exhibited watch models and at the same time announced the cooperation with the two non-profit organizations. Afterwards we started our culinary journey through the dining room. From the tender Bresse chicken to a velvety soft morel soup to the Irish Short Rib, the team around Bobby Bräuer rightly underlined the two stars in the Michelin Guide.

Stimulating technical discussions as well as nice conversations between and after the individual courses provided for a comfortable atmosphere. The Ocean Film Tour provided a rounding off of the event, all around the topic of water. With seven interesting filmic contributions about our oceans, the individual filmmakers showed the full splendour of our blue planet. At the same time, however, it was also an opportunity to reflect on the preservation of the beautiful marine world. Overall, we found the Oris event more than successful and thematically very well organized. The water as the core of the event was represented in every area of the evening and provided a great setting for the presentation of the watch models and the integrated cooperation with the organisations.

ORIS Aquis Hammerhead

With the Oris Aquis Hammerhead, which is decorated with an engraved hammerhead shark on the case back, the watch brand is committed to researching the migration behaviour of hammerhead sharks. In cooperation with the non-profit organization Pelagios Kakunjá, MiniPAT satellite transmitters are used to observe the shark routes in order to observe the migrations in the East Pacific. This should contribute to the creation of new protected areas and protect the endangered species from fishing nets in the long term. With each purchase of the Oris Aquis Hammerhead, limited to 2000 pieces, the respective buyer supports the financing of the necessary transmitters. In keeping with the theme of the world’s oceans, the automatic watch has a one-sided rotating diving bezel and is water resistant up to 500 metres (50 bar).

ORIS Aquis Staghorn restoration

As a second project Staghorn Restoration supports the worldwide protection of coral reefs. With its blue dial and Staghorn coral embossing on the back, the automatic watch is limited to 2000 pieces. The stainless steel case and diving bezel are water resistant up to 300 meters. A special highlight is the packaging, which is made of environmentally friendly algae grass and can be recycled. The partnership with the Coral Restoration Foundation is the focus of this Limited Edition.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Oris once again for this wonderful evening. We found the combination of watch presentation paired with the world of the oceans both exciting and interesting.
